A Few Questions I Hear All the Time
• Where is Sherman's Lagoon?
It's called Kapupu Lagoon technically, and it's by the island of Kapupu,
in
the sunny South Pacific just west of the Elabaob Islands in the Palauan
archipelago of Micronesia.
• What's this strip all about?
Sherman's Lagoon is an undersea cartoon featuring a dimwitted
shark
named Sherman, his sea turtle sidekick, and an assortment of other
coral reef critters who team up to battle the encroachment of civilization
on their remote tropical paradise.
• Can I find Sherman's Lagoon in my newspaper?
Sherman's Lagoon has for the past six years built a loyal readership
in
North America, where it appears in 125 newspapers including the
Washington Post and the Chicago Tribune, and around the
world
where readers in Scandinavia, South Africa, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore,
Jamaica and the Virgin Islands follow the underwater
escapades of Sherman the shark.
• How can I get my local paper to print Sherman's Lagoon?
Snail mail works best. Just send a card to the Comics Editor of your
local paper and politely suggest to him or her
that he or she should consider Sherman's Lagoon in his or her
next revision of the comics page (doesn't this gender-neutral stuff drive
you crazy sometimes?).
• When did Sherman's Lagoon first appear in print?
Sherman made his debut in the Escondido (CA) Times-Advocate
on May 13, 1991. The strip was self-
syndicated at the time.
